A security guard is recovering in hospital today after being shot during an overnight attack at a school in north Dublin.

At about 9 p.m. last night, a car containing three men arrived at Belcamp College, Coolock. One of the men then shot the school's security guard in the leg.

The man was taken to Beaumont Hospital following the incident. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A Garda investigation is now underway to establish a motive for the crime, but it is understood the attack had nothing to do with either the school or the man's position as security guard.
