A major search for a man who went missing when a boat capsized in Co Antrim yesterday has resumed.
The alarm was raised after a man in his 30s swam ashore yesterday afternoon after a boat capsized at Mill Bay in Larne Lough.
The man was taken to hospital for treatment for hypothermia.
A second man on board the boat has not been found.
Belfast coast guard said the man who made it to the shore told police he had been whelk-picking with another man when their boat capsized. They reported that the second man was last seen hanging on to the pair’s boat.
The Larne and Port Muck coast guard rescue teams, Larne RNLI inshore lifeboat, Larne RNLI all-weather lifeboat and two other vessels, plus an RAF rescue helicopter and a police helicopter, all searched the scene yesterday.
Officials said they believed that neither of the men was wearing a lifejacket.
Police said the search of the surrounding sea and shoreline was continuing today and appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
