Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman has been ruled out of their Champions League match against Valencia due to a hamstring injury and is the first of a number of injury concerns for manager Arsene Wenger.

Seaman, who would have made the 1,000th senior appearance of his career in the match, was one of several Arsenal players struggling with injuries before the Group B clash and the 39-year-old was left behind when the squad flew out to Spain on Tuesday.

Seaman hurt his hamstring in last Tuesday's 1-1 draw against AS Roma and his absence is a big blow to the English champions, who could be eliminated if they lose at the Mestalla Stadium.

It also jeopardises his place in the England squad for their important European championship qualifiers against Liechtenstein on March 29 and Turkey on April 2, which Sven-Goran Eriksson will name on Sunday.

Arsenal's two other big injury doubts - captain Patrick Vieira (knee) and Sol Campbell (Achilles) - both travelled as part of a 19-man squad, the club's official website reported.

But manager Arsene Wenger described Campbell's chance of playing as "40 percent" and Vieira's as only "slightly better".

Wenger said Latvian Igors Stepanovs would deputise if Campbell failed to recover in time. Arsenal are already without centre back Martin Keown and left back Ashley Cole due to injury.

In addition, Dutch striker Dennis Bergkamp has not travelled due to his fear of flying.
