Scaffolders defer action

Scaffolders in Dublin have agreed to defer their threatened industrial action over pay for a week

Scaffolders in Dublin have agreed to defer their threatened industrial action over pay for a week. But work was disrupted on many sites in the city yesterday after scaffolders marched through the city demanding higher pay and better safety conditions.

Earlier, at a mass meeting in Liberty Hall, they agreed to the deferral of a strike in order to allow talks between SIPTU and the Construction Industry Federation. The scaffolders are due to meet again on March 23rd to hear a report on progress in the talks.
