Russian President Vladimir Putin said today he will await the outcome of the debate over a new UN resolution on Iraq before determining what contribution Russia may make to the effort.

At a news conference with President George W. Bush, Mr Putin said the "degree and extent and level" of Russia's participation in Iraq's reconstruction will be determined "after we know the parameters" of the new UN resolution.

The two leaders are engaged in a weekend of talks at Camp David, outside Washington DC.
