A man who ran off after being stopped by the RUC in Co Down early this morning was later found to have serious facial and head injuries.
According to an RUC spokesman an officer stopped a car on High Street in Bangor at 12.20 a.m. for a motoring offence. However the driver of the car ran off.
The officer persued the man who was later found unconscious on Hamilton Road in the town. He serious facial injuries including two six-inch gashes to the head, the spokesman said.
