BRITAIN: Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother is said to be determined to attend the funeral of her daughter, Princess Margaret, at Saint George's Chapel, Windsor this afternoon. Despite doctors' fears, the Queen Mother (101) flew from Sandringham House to Royal Lodge, her Windsor home, yesterday, just 24 hours after Wednesday's scare when she slipped getting up from a chair and cut her arm.
The Queen Mother was said to be "in good heart" and "absolutely determined" to attend the private royal funeral service, which falls 50 years to the day after the burial of her husband, George VI, at Windsor.
A crowd of several hundred people lined the approach to Windsor Castle last night as the hearse carrying the princess's coffin completed the 75-minute journey from Saint James's Palace in London.
Queen Elizabeth was travelling to Windsor after another day of royal engagements, this time celebrating the 150th annivserary of Great Ormond Street Hospital for sick children.
In accordance with Princess Margaret's instructions for a private ceremony, until last night not even an order of service had been published for this afternoon's funeral, expected to be attended by some 450 close family members and friends.
