Sarajevo - Rival Bosnian Serb leaders are to hold elections and share control of the media. In a deal brokered by President Milosevic of Serbia, the NATO-backed President Biljana Plavsic and hardliner, Mr Momcilo Krajisnik, promised to end all conflicts until elections for the entity's parliament on November 15th.

They also agreed to alternate news broadcasts between the studios in the hardliners' stronghold at Pale and Mrs Plavsic's headquarters in Banja Luka. The deal came two days after the four-month struggle spilt its first blood during a shoot-out between police loyal to the rival camps. Mrs Plavsic, who called elections after dissolving the parliament dominated by hardliners, conceded their demand to put her own job on the line.
