Researchers have forecast mobiles phones incorporating cameras will soon outsell digital still cameras.
The Strategy Analytics report predicts 147 million camera phones will be sold in 2007. The projected worldwide sales figure for digital cameras is 95 million.
Japan and Korea are the world's leading camera phone markets, and the report suggests the two will account for almost 90 per cent of 16 million sold by the end of the year.
The analysts base their prediction on the popularity of emerging multimedia messaging services, but they warn cool camera phones will not sell themselves.
