The receivers appointed at Mackies International, Belfast, have announced the loss of 59 jobs. It comes as negotiations continue about the west Belfast engineering company's future, after receivers Deloitte and Touche were called in by management on Tuesday.

The Sinn Fein president Mr Gerry Adams, MP for West Belfast, said he was disappointed at the losses and would be holding separate meetings today with the receivers and trade union representatives.
