Rathnew and Na Fianna to meet again

Na Fianna 1-06 Rathnew 0-09

Na Fianna 1-06 Rathnew 0-09

Na Fianna will have it all to do again in the Leinster club football championship as this afternoon’s final with Rathnew ended in stalemate.

The Dublin club had led by 1-04 to 0-04 at half-time but were pegged back in the second half after the sendings off of star forward Dessie Farrell, the Na Fianna goalscorer, and his teammate Des Macken.

Na Fianna did keep their noses in front until the dying stages when Rathnew’s Mark Doyle earned the Wicklow side another chance.

The result means Na Fianna, who were forced to replay the semi-final with Sarsfields after fielding too many substitutes, now face another Sunday in Newbridge before this championship is decided.

The replay will take place next Sunday.
