Raiders take sum of money from Limerick bank

Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery in the in Co Limerick village of Hospital this morning.

Two men wearing balaclavas, one of whom was armed with what appeared to be a shotgun, entered the Allied Irish Bank in the town shortly after 10.30 a.m. and threatened staff.

The men then escaped in a white Honda Civic car with an undisclosed sum of money. The car was later found abandoned about three miles from the village.

There were no injuries during the raid.
