Detectives in the North were today hunting a man who held up an off-licence armed with a knife.

The masked robber entered the shop in the Beersbridge Road area of Belfast at 9.45pm last night, threatened staff and made off with a sum of cash.

No employed were injured in the incident but they were said to be shaken.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said the man was aged in his mid to late 20s, was clean shaven and wearing dark clothes and trainers and white socks.

Meanwhile police are also probing an attempted robbery and robbery at two bookmakers.

The first incident occurred at 7.30pm yesterday in Winetavern Street, Belfast.

Two men wearing motorcycle helmets entered the premises and staff were threatened with a knife.

The pair fled empty handed.

Around 20 minutes, later another bookmakers in the Springfield Road was held up at knifepoint.

Money was taken and police believe the two incidents may be linked.
