A PSNI officer was recovering in hospital today after a dramatic car chase along a motorway in Northern Ireland in the early hours of the morning.

Two people were arrested and four officers injured after a stolen Subaru Impresa car heading towards Belfast was pursued along the M1 motorway near Armagh at about 2 a.m. The vehicle had been stolen from the Loughgall Road in Armagh.

As the car sped towards Belfast, police deployed a stinger device to stop it, puncturing its tyres. The driver rammed a police car, smashing it into a motorway crash barrier, and another police vehicle was slightly damaged.
