A Nigerian man who was arrested on a visit to Ireland and who turned out to be a prince has been ordered out of the State by Judge Gillian Hussey.

Prince Adewale Okanlawon Adeola (30), of Long Bridge Road, London, had given the name Matthew Chapman when he was first arrested by Garda Declan Daly.

Yesterday he pleaded guilty in Kilmainham District Court to handling a stolen bank draft at Bawnogue Road on February 19th. A garda said the draft had been posted to his holiday address in Lealand Avenue by mistake, and gardai found it hidden under the seat of his car.

She gave him a six-month sentence, suspended on condition that he take a boat to England by midnight.
