Two priests were robbed at knifepoint in their home in Co Tyrone yesterday morning, it was revealed today.

Two men broke a window in the house at Convent Road in Cookstown where the two priests lived. They ransacked downstairs and woke one of the curates, threatening him with a knife before taking £400 in cash and a car.

One of the priests managed to break away from the robbers and raise the alarm.

There were no arrests.

Elsewhere, a collection was taken from another priest as he returned to his parochial house in west Belfast at the weekend.

Northern Ireland First Minister Rev Ian Paisley today condemned the robberies.
