The Irish Council for Civil Liberties has backed the President, Mrs Robinson, for the position of UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. The ICCL has written to the UN Secretary General, Mr Kofi Annan, saying that as President, Mrs Robinson has shown a particular interest in human rights in the developing world.
