The M50 Port Tunnel reopened this afternoon after a broken-down truck closed it this morning.

The M50 Port Tunnel reopened this afternoon after a broken-down truck closed it this morning.

A car transporter broke down on the northbound tunnel leading to a closure in both directions at around 10.15 am.

Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene after the lorry's engine blew up. There were no injuries and the tunnel was closed as a precautionary measure. It reopened shortly before midday.

AA Roadwatch said there were no major delays because it was an off-peak traffic time.
