ARUSHA - The US Secretary of State, Mr Warren Christopher, met East African leaders in Tanzania yesterday to praise "African solutions to African problems" while urging them to change their policy toward Burundi.
Mr Christopher met the presidents of Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda to win support for American proposals to create a standing African military force to protect civilians from the ravages of conflicts such as Burundi.
