Amman - A man fired on a crowd in the Jordanian capital, Amman, yesterday, leaving a policeman dead and two people wounded, police said.

The man, whose identity was not revealed, was armed with a revolver and fired several shots at a crowd in the main street of the al-Ashrafiya neighbourhood. Police moved in and were fired on by the man, who wounded two of them before being arrested.
