LOS ANGELES - Police in San Bernardino, California on Saturday were investigating how five cardboard boxes containing human foetuses ended up in a field near a highway.

A spokesman for the San Bernardino sheriff's department said the boxes were found on Friday night by two children, playing in a field. The unmarked boxes, each containing six foetuses, were sealed with duct tape. Each foetus was stored in a sterilised, plastic container.
