Plans to withdraw police bodyguards from judges, unionist MPs and some British government ministers in Northern Ireland have been cancelled.
The proposals, which were due to be implemented next month, have been set aside because of the end of the IRA ceasefire. The decision was taken by the RUC Chief Constable, Sir Hugh Annesley.
Some unionist MPS including the DUP leader, the Rev Ian Paisley, and the former UUP leader, Mr James Molyneaux had been due to have their bodyguards withdrawn on March 4th.
