Pipe bomb found in Co Down

Police in Co Down are investigating the discovery of a pipe bomb in Carryduff.

The viable device was found at the door of flat complex at Doon Park in the town shortly before 9.30pm last night.

A number of homes in the area were evacuated and an army bomb disposal team was tasked.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman said no motive had been established.

Detectives at Castlereagh have appealed for information.
