NEW DELHI - The death toll from a Hindu pilgrimage decimated by blizzards, cold and rain in the Himalayan region of Kashmir has reached 160, the Press Trust of India reported yesterday.

The Indian Prime Minister, Mr H.D. Deve Gowda, called for an all out effort to rescue thousands of Hindus still trapped in the area, saying the relief and rescue operation should be put on a war footing.
