London - The former Governor of Hong Kong, Mr Chris Patten, will not be prosecuted over allegations that he breached the Official Secrets Act.

The announcement from the Attorney General, Mr John Morris, officially clears Mr Patten of the charge that he handed classified documents to the journalist Jonathan Dimbleby for his book on Mr Patten's term, The Last Governor.
