St Patrick's Athletic secured their first home win of the new Eircom Premier League campaign, under the guidance of new manager John McDonnell, with a 3-1 win over Dublin City at Richmond Park.

Dublin took the lead early on 15 minutes through Cathal O'Connor but were pegged back when Colm Foley headed home Keith Dunne's corner in the 28th minute.

The second half belonged to the homeside and goals from John O'Keefe and Dunne sowed up the points.

Meanwhile, its a case of as you were at the top of the table after Shelbourne and Bohemians played out a nil all draw and Waterford United were held to a one all draw by Munster rivals Cork City at the RSC.
