Gardaí are today examining component parts for up to 20 pipebombs that were discovered in a bag in a pub car park in west Dublin yesterday evening.
The items were found after a member of the public reported a suspicious package outside the Cuckoo’s Nest on Greenhills Road in Tallaght at 5pm.
Gardaí sealed off the area and called the Army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team.
An Army spokesman said the bag contained a number of pipes, assorted fireworks and other items used in making pipebombs. He said the materials were sufficient for up to 20 improvised devices.
None of the devices were ready for use and a controlled explosion was not required.
The all-clear was given at 7.50pm and the package was turned over to gardaí for further investigation.
There were no arrests.
