Galway Corporation has been ordered by an Bord Pleanala to find an alternative landfill site to the city dump within two years.
But the local authority has been given permission for part of a £1.4m plan to extend the dump at Carrowbrowne, despite objections from local residents and environmental groups during a full oral hearing last January.
