The RUC was last night investigating an incident at Newtownabbey, Co Antrim, in which one person was taken to hospital following a gunshot wound to the leg. The incident occurred outside an off-licence at Abbots Cross shortly before 9 p.m., during a confrontation between an off-duty police officer and a number of youths.
The RUC said that two shots were fired and it was carrying out a full investigation.
