Ankara - The condemned Kurdish rebel leader, Abdullah Ocalan, has appealed to Turkish prison authorities to have fellow inmates at the high-security prison island of Imrali because he is feeling lonely, one of his lawyers said.

"[Ocalan] has been all alone for 148 days. He asked that some of his friends in other prisons be transferred to his prison, but he did not give any names in his petition," his lawyer, Mr Mahmut Sakar, was quoted as saying by the daily Milliyet newspaper.
