Former general Mr Muhammadu Buhari'sopposition party is to mount a legal challenge to dozens of Nigerianparliamentary election results.

"We will go to court, we will go to the Independent NationalElectoral Commission, we will use every means at our disposal," saidSam Nda-Isaiah, on behalf of Mr Buhari's All Nigeria People's Party(ANPP).

"We will not be party to any fraud," he said, adding that thechallenges would be to results in seats across the north andsouth-east of the country that had been won by Mr Obasanjo's rulingPeople's Democratic Party (PDP).

Mr Obasanjo and Mr Buhari will face off on Saturday in a presidentialelection, the second important test in a week for Nigeria's fragilefour-year-old experiment with civilian rule.With two-thirds of the results from last Saturday'sparliamentary elections released, the PDP has a comfortable lead of137 lower house seats to the ANPP's 69. One hundred and twenty seats arestill to be declared.

If the final result confirms that Mr Obasanjo's party has won withmore than half the vote, he will be the clear favourite inSaturday's race.
