Ronnie O'Sullivan has finally realised his dream of reaching the final of the Embassy World Championships as he polished off gutsy Joe Swail to set up a meeting with either John Higgins or Matthew Stevens.

The world ranked number four secured a resounding 17-11 success over outsider Swail after securing the final two frames needed for victory after he had led 15-9 overnight.

This season O'Sullivan has been producing some of the best form of his career and already has four titles to his name.

That brilliance - and also consistency - has been sustained over two weeks in Sheffield by O'Sullivan with Andy Hicks, Dave Harold and Peter Ebdon swept aside with ease.

Even the comeback king Swail was powerless to halt the 25-year-old, who will be favourite to defeat Higgins or Stevens in the best of 35 final showpiece.

O'Sullivan rattled in three centuries and eight 50-plus breaks to help him dispose of the Irishman, who fell at the semi-final hurdle for the second successive year.

Swail can take some consolation from the fact that he is still leading the way for the stg£20,000 highest break prize with his 140 - plus his £73,000 pay day, the best of his 10-year career - for reaching the last four. PA
