A 17-year-old boy from Northern Ireland nearly lost a finger after a fight broke out with a group of Dublin teenagers in the Mosney Holiday Centre in Co Meath over the weekend. The youth was on holiday with his parents.

He and another teenage boy were involved in a stand-off with a group of Dublin youths. All were aged between 17 and 18 years.

The groups were outside a Chinese takeaway when the row broke out at 2.40 a.m. on Sunday. One of the Dubliners produced a knife and struck out "nearly severing the small finger on the right hand", according to a Garda spokesman.

One youth was arrested and over the weekend and he is expected to be charged before Drogheda District Court soon.
