A total of 350 new jobs for Co Cork were announced today in separate enterprises by Pepsi-Cola and Delta Homes.

Pepsi-Cola this morning opened a new $100 million manufacturing factory in Cork that will create 250 jobs over the next five years. One hundred staff have already been hired and the plant is operational.

Meanwhile, a new venture by Delta Homes at Cobh, Co Cork, will lead to 100 new posts being created.

The Pepsi-Cola factory is at Kilnagleary, Carrigaline. Along with concentrate manufacture, part of the development will also include an expansion of the company's marketing and financial services.

The facility is Pepsi-Cola's second concentrate manufacturing base in Ireland, and it plans to invest $10 million in upgrading its existing facility at Little Island in Cork, where 260 people are employed.

According to the Ms Dawn Hudson, president of Pepsi-Cola North America, the latest development reflected the company's satisfaction with the performance of the Little Island facility, which was established in 1974.
