Mutu to discuss personal terms with Chelsea

Adrian Mutu will open talks with Chelsea today over a projected £15.8million move from Parma.

Chelsea confirmed at the weekend they had agreed the fee with the Serie A side for the Romanian international striker.

And if Mutu agrees personal terms it will take Roman Abramovich's Stamford Bridge spending above the £75million mark.

Mutu is reportedly due to sign a five-year deal and according to his agent and the player himself it is virtually a done deal.

The 24-year-old Mutu said: "From a human point of view it has not been an easy choice. But now it's done so let's think of Chelsea.

"I couldn't refuse the offer they made me. I asked my club to consider it and I have to thank the officials."

Mutu is rated one of the best striking prospects in Serie A having scored 17 Serie A goals last season plus four in the UEFA Cup.

Mutu will shortly join up with French defender Marcel Desailly, who has agreed to extend his current contract by a further year, according to the French newspaper L'Equipe.
