London - British researchers have proven what advertising executives have long suspected - music influences what consumers buy.

Researchers at the University of Leicester, in a letter to the scientific journal Nature published yesterday, said they found that French wine outsold the German vintage when French music was played in the shop, and the opposite occurred when the Gaelic accordion was replaced by German Bierkeller pieces.
