Mulcahy elected cathaoirleach

Mr Michael Mulcahy, a member of Dublin City Council, has been elected cathaoirleach of the Dublin Regional Authority.

Mr Michael Mulcahy, a member of Dublin City Council, has been elected cathaoirleach of the Dublin Regional Authority.

Mr Mulcahy has been a Fianna Fail representative for the Crumlin-Kimmage area for the past 14 years.

A senator from 1994 to 1997, he stood for Fianna Fail in general elections in the Dublin Central constituency in 1992 and 1997, as well as in a 1994 by-election.

He is a practising barrister and vice-chairman of the Employment Appeals Tribunal.

Mr Mulcahy said he aims to promote the co-ordination of public services in the Dublin region during his tenure, with particular emphasis on the issues of housing, transport and urban deprivation.
