The Northern Secretary, Dr Mo Mowlam, has stood over her "personal view" that the two Scots Guards convicted of the murder of Mr Peter McBride in Belfast in September 1992 should not have been allowed to remain in the British army.

The army board took the controversial decision to allow the two guardsmen, James Fisher and Mark Wright, to remain in the army on Tuesday.
