Motorcyclist killed in Laois collision

A man has died following a road accident in Co Laois early this afternoon.

A man has died following a road accident in Co Laois early this afternoon.

The 32-year-old motorcyclist was killed when he collided with a jeep at about 12.45pm at Modubeigh, Wolfhill, Ballylinan, Co Laois.

The man's body was removed to the Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise.

No one else was injured in the incident.

Meanwhile gardaí have named the victims of Friday's road traffic collisions.

Mathew Kelly (30) of Cairn, Portarlington, Co Laois, died in the two vehicle collision at Kyletalisha, Portlaoise, at about 5.20pm on Friday.

Mr Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Portlaoise Hospital. The driver of the second vehicle, a truck was not injured in the incident.

The 14-year-old boy who died after being struck by a car on Friday at Ennistymon, Clare has been named as Mathew Collins of Kilcornan, Ennistymon, Co. Clare.
