Russia's three main news agencies quoted Health Ministry officials as saying today that 118 people had died in the hostage siege at a Moscow theatre.
Officials had said previously that more than 90 hostages died when Russian special forces stormed the theatre to release more than 700 people held hostage by Chechen guerrillas for three days.
Most of the about 50 guerrillas were also killed in the raid.
