Belgrade - Yugoslav President Vojislav Kostunica said yesterday Serbia would not block Montenegro if it chose to leave their joint federation, but he was optimistic Yugoslavia would survive in a new form.

"We should give no one cause to say Serbia's menacing hand is hovering over Montenegro," he said. Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic plans to hold a referendum on a "divorce" from Serbia if his pro-independence bloc wins parliamentary elections scheduled for April 22nd.
