A new meningitis national awareness campaign, called "Manage the Minutes", has been launched by the Meningitis Research Foundation.
The body is planning a special resource pack for creches throughout the State promoting what it calls the 3 As: awareness of the symptoms; alertness to the condition of the person who is ill; and acting quickly to get medical help. There were 506 cases of meningitis reported in 1997.
