Two Dublin men convicted of violent disorder and assault were granted bail by the Court of Criminal Appeal yesterday pending the outcome of their appeals against conviction.

Mark Alford (30), of Seagull House, Crumlin and William Kenny (55), of St Anthony's Road, Rialto, were cleared by Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on May 18th last of killing Mr Josie Dwyer, who received serious injuries on May 14th, 1996, from which he later died.

The men were convicted of assaulting Mr Alan Byrne who was with Mr Dwyer on the night of the killing.

They were granted leave to appeal their convictions yesterday after it was argued that the trial judge had erred in law in his address to the jury.
