STATE DINNER:PRESIDENT MARY McAleese will host a State dinner for Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh at Dublin Castle on Wednesday night.
More than 160 guests will attend, including Taoiseach Enda Kenny and British prime minister David Cameron.
Also in attendance will be several members of Cabinet, members of the Council of State, and senior Government officials.
Efforts have been made to ensure every Government Minister will attend at least one function at which the Queen will be present.
Former president Mary Robinson and a number of former taoisigh are due to attend the event at Dublin Castle. Religious leaders, business leaders and senior figures from trade unions and media organisations have been invited. The guest list also includes Chief Justice John Murray and senior members of the judiciary.
The event will take part in St Patrick’s Hall. A State banquet was held for Queen Victoria in the same hall when she visited Dublin.
