McAleese in Scotland for awards ceremony

President McAleese is in Scotland to attend the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Gold Awards Ceremony.

President McAleese is in Scotland to attend the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Gold Awards Ceremony.

She will meet some 100 recipients of the award and recipients of Gaisce - the President's Award, of which she is patron.

The honours will be jointly presented by Mrs McAleese and Prince Philip during a ceremony that marks the 50th anniversary of the Gold Awards at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in the Scottish capital.

Mrs McAleese will also attend the first Scotland-Ireland Film Festival.

The festival, which runs until Thursday, showcases the best of recent Irish and Scottish film production.

The reception will also celebrate the 17th Scottish International Storytelling Festival, which features contributions from Irish storytellers.
