The Lord Mayors of Dublin and Belfast, Cllrs Mary Freehill and Robert Stoker, yesterday urged all parties in Northern Ireland to renew their efforts to find a solution to the current political impasse.

In a joint statement the mayors said the Belfast Agreement had been endorsed by the majority of the people of the whole island and negotiations should "move beyond recriminations of the past week".
