US SATELLITE photographs guided war crimes investigators yesterday to a meadow in eastern Bosnia beneath which as many as 2,700 executed Muslims may be buried.

Survivors' testimonies indicated that Serb separatist forces killed at least 3,000 mostly unarmed Muslim men after overrunning the UN protected government enclave of Srebrenica in July 1995. The Serbs deny massacres occurred. They say any bodies to be found were Muslim soldiers killed in battle.
US spy photos presented to the UN Security Council pinpointed several places near Nova Kasaba where virgin land looked freshly ploughed. The US Ambassador, Ms Madeleine Albright, told the council as many as 2,700 people might be buried in the winding valley.
The satellite images and testimony from Srebrenica survivors led the five man inquiry team yesterday to a meadow by a brook, just off a major road in Serb controlled eastern Bosnia.
Mr John Gerns, forensic expert in the investigative team, said, "We have confirmed a mass grave.
