A man and a 15-year-old boy were treated in Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry yesterday following separate beatings by masked men in the city on Monday night, using pack-axe handles and baseball bats studded with nails.
The boy was attacked just before II p.m. by three men in Mulroy Gardens in the Creggan area. He suffered a broken arm and multiple puncture wounds.
Earlier six men, two of them also armed with handguns, forced their way into a house at Fergleen Park. The men, who claimed they were from both the IRA and Direct Action Against Drugs, beat a 20-year-old man, inflicting a broken elbow and multiple puncture wounds.
