For the first time, the Department of Education has issued marking schemes for Leaving Certificate subjects to post primary schools. The Association of Secondary Teachers in Ireland welcomed yesterday's release of the schemes for Leaving Certificate home economics (social and scientific) and Irish.
Mr John White, ASTI assistant general secretary, said the issuing of marking schemes has long been sought by the union and it commended the Minister for Education, Ms Breathnach.
A further set of schemes for other subjects will be issued in coming weeks.
