It is understood the man was walking home at around 11 p.m. when he was attacked by three youths at Newtown Park in Leixlip.

He suffered a serious eye injury and a broken ankle in the attack and is being treated at the James Connolly Memorial in Blanchardstown.

He is the third man to have been attacked in Dublin since the weekend. A cyclist sustained serious head injuries after he was attacked in Grafton Street early on Sunday. Another man was attacked on the Long Mile Road yesterday.
